ASTM A193 Grade B7 Studs, Cap Screws, and Hex Bolts
Bolt•ology – Get to KNOW: B7
As a domestic manufacturer, Lightning Bolt stocks a vast inventory of ASTM A193 Grade B7 Studs, including b7 threaded rod, b7 cap screws, and b7 hex bolts… and of course the ASTM A194 Grade 2H nuts that pair with them.
First off, for those who are unfamiliar with the term, ASTM stands for the American Society of Testing and Materials. It was originally founded in 1898 to form standards for the steel used for railroads. The scientists and engineers who make up this society put forth standards and specifications for a wide range of products and materials, including fasteners. ASTM A193 Grade B7 alloy steel fasteners are for high pressure or high temperature applications, and are very common for use with valves, flanges, and pressure vessels. Whether it be B7 heavy hex bolts, threaded rod, B7 studs, and much more.. Lightning Bolt has your ASTM A193 Grade B7 needs covered. We also have in house coating facility that is capable of manufacturing Xylan coated fasteners, such as PTFE studs and teflon blue nuts “in house”.
B7 fasteners are used across a wide range of industries, including the oil and gas and chemical industries. Because of their strength and commercial availability, B7 studs are very popular when flanging together pipe and valves. Our customers count on the reliability of our products, the competitiveness of our pricing, and the timeliness in which we can supply you.
A commonly asked question is “Which nuts should I use with B7 studs?”
For ASTM A193 Grade B7 studs and bolts, the nuts must conform with the ASTM A194 specification, unless specified otherwise by a project engineer. Thus, A194 Grade 2H nuts is what we most commonly see paired with B7 studs. When it comes to both specifications, Lightning Bolt has the capacity to service you whether you need a handful, or a truck full.
