Belleville spring washers are a very important and complicated fastening element.  As highly engineered products, they are commonly used in the Oil & Gas industry to apply a constant force at a flange.  Therefore, thermal cycling (expansion / contraction) of the piping components will not lead to a loss of torque on the bolted joint.

Lightning Bolt is an ISO 9001:2015 certified fastener manufacturer that specializes with precise fastening components.  Many of these include specialty alloys such as belleville disk springs (belleville spring washers) in a wide variety of materials and platings.  We can offer custom dimensions and materials as well.

Common materials of belleville spring washers include:

  • 17.4, 17.7 PH belleville spring washers: A made of a precipitation hardened alloy of stainless steel.  This material has a high strength, corrosion resistant, and is highly immune to sulphide pitting and intergranular cracking.
  • 316 Stainless Steel belleville spring washers:  This type of belleville washers is made of a chromium-nickel stainless steel which is ductile and tough with trace magnetism due to it being cold worked (which also adds strength)
  • 410 Stainless belleville spring washers: 410 stainless belleville washers are a common utility grade chromium stainless steel. These are ferromagnetic, and corrosion-resistant, and air hardening.
  • Inconel X-750 belleville spring washers: Inconel X750 belleville washers are made of a type of age hardenable nickel chrome alloy.  Engineers like the characteristics of this alloy as it yields good fatigue resistance over the entire deflection range. In addition, X750 is antimagnetic with a very high heat and corrosion resistance.
  • Inconel 718 belleville spring washers: Inconel 718 belleville washers are commonly found in the oil & gas / industrial sector as they posses good corrosion, strength, and oxidation resistance at high temperatures.
  • Beryllium Copper belleville washer: Beryllium copper belleville washers offer an outstanding strength when compared to steel, however are also a good choice for low temperature service conditions.
  • Phosphor Bronze belleville washers: Phosporous Bronze belleville washers are a tin/copper alloy that is made from cold working.  They possess strength that is relatively less than steel, however this material is resistant to corrosion and is non-magnetic.
  • Carpenter 455 belleville spring washer: Carpenter 455 belleville washers are great in cryo applications, as they are not brittle and possess a high tensile strength.
  • 1075, 5160, 6150 belleville washer:  Lightning Bolt is also able to manufacturer a wide variety of low, medium, and high carbon steel  alloys.
