Considered as a UNS S66286 material, grade 660 has both unique chemical and mechanical requirements, and may have a minimum tensile strength of 130ksi, and a maximum hardness of 37 – 35 HRC.

er ASTM A453 Grade 660 Stud Bolts Nuts & Fasteners shall be marked with the grade symbol “660 and its corresponding class“ and also a manufacturer mark, of which Lightning Bolt’s mark is “LBS”.
ASTM A453 material requires special processing and is not intended for general purpose applications. In addition, for design temperatures above 800 °F [427 °C], material not stress-rupture tested shall be permanently stamped “NR”. Grade 660 Class D and Grade 668 do not require stress-rupture and shall be stamped NR.
Common manufacturing stages include heat treatment, threading, cutting, chamfering, stamping, and possibly PTFE coating or plating.
